Spa Manager, Camps Bay

Our client, an upmarket Boutique Hotel in Campsbay is seeking an experienced Spa Manager for their establishment.

The successful candidate will have skills in the following areas:

Strategic Planning Skills:

  • A Strategic Planner
  • Proactive – a person that looks ahead and plans ahead

IT Skills:

  • Highly computer literate
  • Ensures active, up-to-the-minute knowledge of online social and network status
  • Understands and can act upon business analytics and sales stream information
  • Is familiar with information security and safeguarding issues

Public Relations and Promotional Skills:

  • Develops and implements promotional strategies within the hotel
  • Works together with the marketing company on promotions
  • Stays flexible enough to be able to welcome spontaneity

Revenue/Yield Management Skills:

  • Concentrating on the best sales mix (services and products) at given times to generate the highest revenue and profit
  • Applying certain business practices during fluctuating supply and demand and seasonal highs and lows, in order to position the spa in such a way to maintain a more consistent, predictable bottom line;
  • Promoting and selling the most profitable services and products, but keeping the customer’s needs as a priority

Employing sales techniques and skills:

  • Striving to sell high margin services first, particularly during peak times
  • Employing top-tier staff to administer those high margin services
  • Avoid top-tier staff being booked with low margin services, where possible
  • Capping the number of low-margin services available during peak times
  • Offering price advantages on unsold current and next-day timeslots
  • Installing tiered pricing during certain times of the day/week/season

Financial Management/Accounting Skills:

  • Physically charting spa finances in order to set expectations; monitor progress; and guide decisions
  • Have the goal of steady financial gains by focusing on the following areas:
  • Creating business and staff statistical reports to chart ongoing performance
  • Having a thorough knowledge of staff compensation methodologies
  • Knowing how to calculate service and product margins to increase profitability
  • Basing promotional and staffing decisions on service revenue per minute and per hour
  • Applying these results to continually improve results.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric with a relevant tertiary qualification
  • 5* Establishment experience
  • English and Afrikaans speaking
  • Willing to work shifts
  • A Peoples Person to a wide population and personality type
  • A Strong verbal communicator
  • Highly computer literate
  • Detail-oriented and deadline-driven
  • License and own reliable vehicle

Salary on offer: R14 000 p/m + commission on therapy and retail sales
